I regret that you got caught up in this unfortunate incident.

I don't know what ACM can or will do. Since neither ACM nor
IW3C2 holds the copyright, we cannot seek legal remedies on your
behalf.

Personally, I think you can write the offending authors' department
head and dean at the University of Palermo and alert them of the
problem. You may forward any correspondences I sent you in
my capacity as President of the IW3C2.

If the Palermo authorities write me for information, I'll respond
professionally. For your information the chairmen of WWW2007 and
WWW2008 were at the meeting when this case was discussed. They
might have taken note in case the offending authors submit to
our conferences.
